Donald Robert Poteete

Donald Robert Poteete was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on December 26, 1944. He grew up surrounded by the love of his mother, father, and grandparents. A bright student, Don earned a scholarship to Texas A&M; after graduating high school, where he was also a part of the ROTC. His training and commitment to service carried him into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country in Vietnam — an experience he held with honor all his life.

After returning home, Don earned an AA degree in accounting from Fullerton College by attending school in the daytime while working nights at Disneyland in the cash management department. He began his career in the accounting department at McCoy/Mills Ford in Fullerton. This was the start of his journey in the car business, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting mark. Don left the car business to start his own credit repair company. He thrived in this work because it allowed him to truly help people, something he found deeply rewarding.

Don was a loving husband to Nancy and father to Michael, Robert, Kristin and Donna. Our family grew when Kristin married Jim, Donna married Mike, and Robert met Paula. We later welcomed into the family three grandsons, Derek, Dillon, and Corey. Derek and Dillon married two lovely young ladies, Katy and Amanda. More recently Don was enjoying the very special blessing of two darling great granddaughters, Nora and Lacey. Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and enjoying days on the golf course with his best friends.

Don’s life was a special example of love, loyalty, and laughter. He will always be remembered for his devotion to family, his pride in his service, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew and loved him.
