Our Story
San Diego's Newest Full-Service Funeral Home
Bravo Family Mortuary is San Diego's newest full-service funeral home — the first to open since 1963. Conveniently located in Mission Valley, we are proud to combine modern amenities with timeless traditions while also offering eco-friendly burial, preparation, and ceremonial options.
We are a family-owned, independent, full-service, elegant mortuary. We operate with integrity and compassion while putting the needs of our families at the forefront of everything we do.
We are a non-denominational facility. Our staff proudly serves all families equally — including Veterans, members of the LGBTQ community, and those of any, or no, religious backgrounds — while honoring each loved one with an appropriate and tasteful service customized to your family's specific needs.

Meet the Founders
Lena & Steve
The caring and dedicated staff at Bravo Family Mortuary is led by its founder Lena Bravo-Olsher and her husband Steve, who both share a passion for serving families and gracefully guiding them through one of life's most difficult moments.
Having lost both of her parents at a young age, Lena understands first-hand the difficulties and pain associated with losing a loved one — as well as the desire for a seamless, hassle-free experience.
An active member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Lena is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both California and Illinois. Graduating with honors from the esteemed Worsham School of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois, Lena and her staff enroll in ongoing continuing education to maintain current and best funeral industry practices.
"Saying goodbye to a loved one is incredibly difficult. We welcome the opportunity to allow our family to take care of yours."
— Lena & Steve

Alina Gallup
Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer
As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, this profession has become my heart and soul. It is a privilege to guide families through their time of need by creating a service that is unique and special to them and their loved ones.
I greatly value education, and continue to learn as much as I can about different funeral practices and cultures to best serve the needs of each family. It is my honor to create a space where families feel comfortable, understood, and protected.
A born and raised San Diego native, I truly love this community, and strive to honor its residents. Outside of the funeral profession, I can be found crocheting or reading on the beach, taking a dance class, or hiking a local trail.
Blanca
Funeral Arranger
With over seven years of experience serving families in San Diego, I am a dedicated funeral arranger who has had the privilege of working in both corporate and family-owned funeral homes. I also have experience assisting families with Mexico transit paperwork, helping to ease the complexities of international arrangements during an already difficult time.
I am passionate about helping families think outside the box when planning services, creating personalized and heartfelt tributes that truly reflect the life being honored. I love learning about and arranging services for different cultures and religions, and I find it truly beautiful to be able to honor every family's traditions, beliefs, and customs with care and respect.
Whether traditional or unique, my goal is always to ensure each farewell feels authentic and deeply meaningful. Outside of my work, I enjoy listening to and discovering new podcasts, especially those focused on science and animals, as I'm always eager to keep learning and exploring the world around me.
