In Loving Memory

David Wayne Hardin

November 19, 1965 — July 1, 2024

Age 58

Flowers are fulfilled by Forever Blooms in Lemon Grove.

David Wayne Hardin was born in Torrance, CA on November 19, 1965 and passed away some time in late June of 2024 in Ramona, CA. He is the youngest and second child of Tom & Mary Hardin, younger brother of Tom Jr. Hardin, and father of Ashton Hardin-Artiga.

At a young age he discovered his passion for fishing, reading western Louis L’amor books, his love for animals, and helping others. After high school, he proudly served as a US Navy Seal for 20 years and later served for a few years as a US private contractor for Blackwater. He loved his country and served it proudly.

In 1986, David married Joan Holloway, and in 1997, they welcomed their daughter, Ashton, into the world. They divorced in 2003 and Joan passed away in 2006. In 2004, David married Stephanie Moss, who introduced him to the world of Borzois and dog shows. Together, they bred, raised and showed championship Borzois. Even after Stephanie’s death in 2016, he continued to raise and show them. He loved his dogs and they loved him just as much, protecting him to the very end. Recently, he had plans to begin training his own borzois in becoming service dogs for wounded veterans. From his own experience as a wounded veteran, he knew just how loyal a borzoi would and could be in one’s life. David was an intelligent, caring, and remarkable man who dedicated his life to serving his country, not only overseas but in his own hometown in Ramona, CA as well. To him, every man, woman, and 4-legged creature was worth rescuing and defending. He was a good man, with a good heart.

He is survived by his parents- Tom & Mary Hardin, his older brother- Tom Jr. Hardin and his family, his daughter- Ashton Hardin-Artiga and her husband-Karlo, along with his 11 borzois.

David will forever be remembered not only as a hero, but as a son, brother, father, uncle, and friend to many. He will be extremely missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. He is now resting in peace. (Psalms 23)
