In Loving Memory
Soraya Kay Moghaddam
April 24, 2014 — March 9, 2024
Flowers are fulfilled by Forever Blooms in Lemon Grove.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved Soraya Kay Moghaddam at 13.13 on Saturday March 9th 2024. Our darling Soso lost her battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, six weeks shy of her 10th birthday. She was feisty to the last, warding off unbearable soft tissue cancer pain until she found relief in the peace of eternal sleep.
Soraya is the daughter of Petty Officer Second Class Jennifer Lalla and Chief Siamac Moghaddam (United States Navy) and the older sister of Sasha Kai. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, USA on the 24th April 2014, her short life was filled with travel and adventure, living in Oregon City, Boston and San Diego in USA, Chania in Greece and Pretoria in South Africa. She also visited the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France. She called San Diego home and her favorite city was Paris.
For four years she countered successive tumors with unimaginable fortitude and determination, mastering the management of chemotherapy, radiation and an onerous regimen of procedures, scans, tests and medications. She became a true expert, profoundly knowledgeable of her body, and articulate about her health and her needs. To affirm how exceptional she was, she was the youngest female to receive the title of Honorary Chief Petty Officer Soraya Moghaddam.
Soraya was a child of courage, charm, compassion and character. She was a natural athlete, loved drawing, singing and dancing. She had a wicked sense of humor that drew on her deep insight into people’s character. Simply put, she was fun to be with and sassy. Fluent in the language of love, Soraya brought people of all ages, beliefs, cultures and traditions into her ever-growing circle of support.
Soraya is forever ingrained in the hearts of her loving sister, beloved parents and extended family as well as the thousands of friends who say “We Love Soraya”.
Bravo Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions towards to the family’s celebration of life and distribution of ashes ceremonies would be deeply appreciated.
